Creator Emanuel Oppliger moved from Coffs Harbour, Australia to Papua New Guinea as a child. At the age of 16, he moved to Switzerland to learn the crafts of carpentry and joinery. Whilst there, he represented Australia at the 2006 Olympic Winter Games.
Emanuel built his first wooden outdoor hot tub for a friend in Switzerland before moving back to Australia in early 2009. From this humble beginning he now designs and builds bespoke wooden bath tubs and basins for home interiors across Australia.
His business, Wood & Water, offers a full range of beautifully handcrafted Australian made products from sustainable timber supplies, most woods used by Emanuel are Australian timber species such as; Tasmanian Oak, Blackbutt, Mahogany, Victorian Ash and Red Cedar.
Each finished product consists of over 100 pieces of individually cut timber joined in intricate patterns to form a perfectly shaped hot tub, basin, sink or tub. A unique, multi-layer coating, adapted from boat building is then applied to deliver complete water resistance. This durable finish protects the wood from scratches and UV light as well as bringing out the original wood grain, giving the finished piece beautiful depth and texture.
Each handmade basin, tub or hot tub is manufactured to individual size requirements and specifications.
